Before you book

Your time is reserved

Ovora is a private, one-chair studio. When you book, your appointment time is held just for you — never double-booked.

A non-refundable booking deposit is required to reserve your appointment and will be applied toward your final total.

The deposit is $20 for most services and $30 for longer extension sets and The Refined pedicure. To reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours' notice. Late cancellations, no-shows, or changes made with less than 48 hours' notice will result in the deposit being forfeited.

A structured manicure is the detailed dry e-file foundation behind every Ovora manicure. It creates a clean, healthy base so your nails last longer, grow out beautifully, and stay protected. Choose your service based on what you want: natural nails, color, strength, added length, or maintenance.

The methods, in plain English

What's the difference?

Same goal — beautiful, lasting nails — reached different ways. Here's each one simply, so the menu makes sense.

Colour only
Gel Polish
Colour cured hard under an LED lamp so it stays glossy and chip-free for 2–3 weeks. No length or extra strength — just a beautiful finish on your own nails.
Best for: A clean, glossy colour that lasts on your natural nails.
Colour + strength
Dipping Powder
Your natural nail is sealed in a fine coloured powder — colour and a little strength, no lamp needed. Short natural nails only. The same family of material as acrylic, applied as a powder rather than sculpted.
Best for: Durable colour on short natural nails, without a lamp.
Strength + length
Acrylic
A powder and liquid blended into a paste, sculpted onto the nail by hand and set hard in the air. Very strong, holds any length or shape. Same material as dip — brushed and shaped for length rather than dusted on.
Best for: Maximum versatility — any length, any shape, hand-painted art.
Soft gel extension
Gel-X
A soft, pre-shaped gel tip bonded over the whole nail and cured under LED. Light, flexible and gentle on the natural nail, with an easy soak-off removal. A lovely way to add length.
Best for: Thin or sensitive nails wanting gentle, flexible length.
Structure
Builder Gel
A thicker gel brushed on and cured under LED. Adds structure and protection — kept short as an overlay on your own nails, or sculpted for length. Flexible, soaks off.
Best for: Rebuilding, overlays and growing out your natural nails.
Maximum durability
Hard Gel
Like builder gel but tougher and more rigid, for maximum durability. Filed off rather than soaked. Adds length, or a hard protective shell over your own nails.
Best for: Very active hands needing the most rigid, long-wearing shell.

Overlay means the product goes over your own nail for strength, kept at natural length. An extension adds length beyond your fingertip. Still unsure? Tell me the look you want and how long it should last — I'll guide you.

Good to know

Studio Policies

A few simple things that keep your time protected and your set perfect. Booking an appointment means you agree to these.

Booking & DepositA non-refundable deposit — $20 for most services, $30 for longer sets and The Refined — holds your appointment and goes straight towards your service. It's not an extra charge. As a private, one-chair studio, your time is set aside for you alone, so a card is also kept on file to cover any late or no-show fees. One appointment per visit, please.
Arriving on timeThere's a 10-minute grace window. Between 10 and 15 minutes late your service may be shortened to finish on time; arriving more than 15 minutes late is treated as a late cancellation — the deposit is forfeited and the appointment may need to be rebooked. A late arrival takes time from the client after you.
Cancellations & No-ShowsPlease give 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule and your deposit moves to the new time. With less than 48 hours' notice the deposit is forfeited and a fresh deposit is required to rebook. A no-call, no-show is charged 100% of the service value to the card on file, and future appointments require full prepayment.
Your set, guaranteedTell me before you leave if anything isn't quite right and I'll fix it on the spot. If something needs attention after, reach out within 3 days and I'll take care of it at no charge. Hand-done services are non-refundable.
PaymentYour balance is due at the appointment — cash, card and digital all welcome. Prices are subject to Iowa sales tax (7%), added at checkout. Gratuity is never expected and always appreciated.
Settle inEvery visit includes a complimentary drink and a little treat — you're looked after here. Come, exhale, and let the hour be about you.
Respect & comfortCome with bare nails, or let me handle removal. I use premium professional products only, so I don't apply outside regular polish — a favourite gel colour is usually welcome, just ask.
Allergies & sensitivitiesPlease tell me about any allergies or sensitivities when you book. I'm glad to switch to unscented, fragrance-free products so your visit is comfortable and safe.
Children & guestsAs a private, one-chair studio I'm not able to supervise children — they can only come along if they're an existing client's child from a previous booking. Please keep extra guests to a minimum; additional guests by arrangement only.
Feeling unwell?Please don't come in sick — text or call me to reschedule and your deposit moves to your new time. Just let me know rather than no-showing, and I'll find a time that works.
Gift cardsThe perfect treat for someone you love — gift cards are available online through Ovora's booking page.
Making it lastA few drops of cuticle oil daily, gloves for cleaning and dishes, and never use your nails as tools. Book your fill on time (every 2–3 weeks), and tell me within 3 days if anything lifts.
